Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced a new feature for its AppFabric service that helps software developers create more productive experiences in cloud applications using AI capabilities spanning multiple Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) tools.
The productivity feature for AppFabric, now in preview, enables developers to build or enhance AI-powered assistants in their apps that can understand the context from other SaaS applications end users rely on.
This new feature allows for richer, more relevant insights and recommendations personalised to each user’s workflow across tools like Asana, Atlassian, Slack, Smartsheet, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and more.
For example, AppFabric could help a product manager draft a status update in Asana by scanning recent emails and meetings from Google Workspace to provide helpful background details to include. Users benefit by saving time switching between apps and enjoy seeing AI-generated suggestions based on their full work context.
AppFabric offers two generative AI APIs that leverage Anthropic’s Claude language model to call and receive insights with supporting references: an actionable insights API highlighting recommended next steps using data across integrated apps, and a meeting preparation API with summaries of upcoming meetings and related materials from a user’s other tools.
The service normalises data from different SaaS platforms so it can be aggregated and analysed by its AI capabilities to generate productivity recommendations inside any app. Developers can quickly embed AppFabric to create new assistants or enhance existing ones without needing to build separate models or integrations.
Asana, Miro, Smartsheet, and Zoom are among the initial partners planning AppFabric integrations to reduce employee context switching.

The productivity feature of AWS AppFabric is now available in preview in the US East region.
